Experiencing the loss of his father while raised on `Oahu at age 5, Sam began to live a life style of substance abuse from the age of 7. As adult living on Maui, Sam also experienced many years of incarceration.  
Six years ago, Sam desired change. Through participating in the Kāne Connections – Men’s Support Group and its Parenting Program, he began his journey of transformation by learning new tools, relationship and parenting skills, along with creating a new change in mindset. He also realized the importance of building new relationships as well. Today, Sam has become a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is a man of integrity and is well respected in his community. He now works for Kāne Connections and is passionate about helping others overcome their obstacles of addiction and a painful lifestyle.
